About Dr. Meghil
Dr. Meghil is a board-certified periodontist with a distinguished academic and clinical background, combining years of research, advanced surgical training, and compassionate patient care. With dual graduate degrees in oral biology and maxillofacial pathology, Dr. Meghil brings a comprehensive, science-driven approach to periodontal therapy and implant dentistry.
Dr. Meghil earned two dental degrees, one from the University of Benghazi and a second one from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Further deepening his expertise, he completed Master of Science (MS) in Oral Biology, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology, and Periodontics residency at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, where his research focused on inflammatory pathways in periodontal disease and hijacking of host immune system by periodontal pathogens.
Throughout his career, Dr. Meghil has been actively involved in dental research and has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at national and international conferences and contributed to advancing the understanding of periodontal disease mechanisms.
Dr. Meghil is the recipient of multiple prestigious awards for academic excellence and research innovation. These honors reflect his dedication to both evidence-based practice and elevating the standard of care in periodontology and oral surgery.
In clinical practice, Dr. Meghil specializes in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease, advanced bone and soft tissue regeneration, and the surgical placement of dental implants. Known for his meticulous technique and patient-centered philosophy, Dr. Meghil utilizes the latest technology—including digital planning, biologics, and minimally invasive surgery—to deliver the best outcomes.
Dr. Meghil is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and several other professional organizations. He also mentors dental professionals and remains committed to lifelong learning and academic contribution. He currently teaches at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and the Dental College of Georgia.
